What is Proactive Model? | How to be Proactive?

Before you read this article, I want you to stand apart from yourself and answer this one question — Are you living your life by design or by default?

Social Mirror

First, we’ll start from the social mirror. The reflection of current social paradigms tells us that we are largely determined by conditioning and conditions. Current social paradigms come from opinions of people, perceptions, and mindsets of people around us.

Now the second step is to understand that your current mindset and vision is not a territory it is Map.

If you have the wrong map then you will never reach the right destination.

So the first thing that you need is a correct map. now your task is to find the correct map. The correct map comes from principles, not from people or conditions.

“You’re never on time”
“Why can’t you keep things in order?”
“You eat like a horse”
“This is so simple, why can’t you understand this?”

These types of comments come from current social paradigms, This reflection and projections affect our subconscious mind. In The Power of subconscious, the author said that our mind is very sensitive to suggestions, but we have the power to reject the suggestion. so when anyone makes a comment on you, command your mind that

“My mind is no more affected by these peoples and suggestions”

This is a shield for your subconscious mind.

Between Stimulus and Response

From the child age to teenage you are programmed to give a particular response to particular situations. Deep inside you have an emotional script. This script is based on the conditioning and behavior of your parents. That’s why some people are afraid in front of a group or feel guilty if they make a mistake. Maybe this is You! The basic idea is we are conditioned to respond the particular way to a particular stimulus.

Between Stimulus and Response, You have a freedom to Choose

This Quote, this line is a golden key. Now you are not only using the right map, you’re using a compass as well.

Choice

What makes human unique from other creatures? Self-awareness.

In addition to self-awareness, we have Imagination — Ability creates in our mind beyond present reality. Another great power, Conscience — a deep inner awareness of right and wrong.

Many people say that I know what is right for me, but I make a choice that gives me short-term pleasure. Your mind loves to be in a comfort zone. Your mind always craves pleasures. These short-term pleasures are long-term setbacks.

You are what you’re today because of the Choices you made yesterday

In the words of Roosevelt Eleanor,

“No one can hurt you without your consent”.

You have a Power of Conscience, you are aware of right and wrong. Now, whenever stimulus arises, ask yourself what is right for me at this moment. You always have a choice and no one can make this choice except you. You need an Independent Will to say No to things that your mind craves and to say Yes to things you do not like to do, but that things are important for the future. In the beginning, you might find it hard but you can use Affirmations and Meditation to make it easy.

This is called the Proactive Model.

I have learned this from best selling book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. This article covers the first habit — Be Proactive — of this book.
